Microsoft 2007 Office Engineer Must Know Workplace MS Office products in a 30,000+ user environment.

Senior delivery-focused Microsoft Office Engineer to be part of a Workplace Applications team. You must be well-versed in Microsoft client application engineering, including the Office Professional suite and other desktop applications.

You will be responsible for engineering the Office suite and co-chairing the Office Governance Council, a group of senior developer and technology managers that review/approve Office configurations. You must be a thought leader and have solid oral and written communication and organizational skills, while working in a dynamic and geographically dispersed environment.

Principal Responsibilities:

Develop design principles and processes for assessing, configuring, testing and deploying all Office suite updates including hot fixes, patches, service packs, add-ins and major releases.

Provide and/or direct others to produce analyses and maintain a knowledge base of all updates.

Develop a resourcing plan and task assignments for engineering resources in regional offices.

Provide and/or direct others to do configurations including group policy, OCT, and login scripts.

Build automation and reporting tools as necessary .Develop/enhance a repeatable process for testing Office products.

Liaise with the virtualization team to set up testing environments.

Continually evaluate product features and make recommendations for re-configurations.

Liaise with packaging team, including generating documentation specs.

Participate in analysis and testing of monthly Microsoft security patches and quarterly system build releases.

Streamline engineering processes for efficiency and re-use.

Liaise with services group to set direction for training and help desk support related to Office suite updates.

Document all processes and procedures in an Office engineering run-book.

Provide expert knowledge of Office integration with MOSS2007.

Work closely with developers leveraging Office products in applications.

Represent Goldman Sachs’ interests on the Microsoft Office Advisory Council and Office 14 TAP programs.

Co-Chair the Office Governance Council that approves GS Office configurations.

Participate in the Office 2007 rollout team as lead Office Engineer.

Experience/Skills:

The candidate should also meet these additional requirements:

7-10 years experience with Microsoft products.

Thought leader on how to leverage MS Office products in a 30,000+ user environment.

Experience with most aspects of Office 2007 Professional Plus configuration including group policy, Office Customization Tool, and login scripts.

Ability to solve problems quickly and completely with other engineers and systems administrators.

Ability to identify tasks which require automation and automate them.

Understand MOSS2007 and integration with Office products.

Experience with Adobe products is a plus.

Understand Windows Server, Active Directory, SQL, IE and distributed computing environments.

Strong inter-personal and communication skills; you will be making presentations to developers, technology managers and professional peers in addition to independent problem solving.

Ability to maintain a high rate of workflow on multiple projects.

Must have some project management experience in an enterprise environment.
