The NAS Systems Administrator will need to have proven experience in administering NetApp appliance technology delivering solutions to a variety of technology and business clients. Expertise in managing storage for file services and effectively managing storage capacity is a must. The individual will need to be able to seamlessly blend technical knowledge, business knowledge, project management and effective communication skills for this role
Principal Responsibilities
Interaction with Storage Engineering and Business Applications Infrastructure to provide daily support and technology solutions
Delivery of high quality storage provisioning services to the Business Application teams
Administer and maintain day-to-day operational support, implementations and periodic hardware and software maintenance. Tasks also include:
Capacity management
Performance analysis, tuning and management
Data migrations
Inventory Maintenance
Storage provisioning and configurations
Reporting on utilization, chargeback and growth trends providing recommendations
Troubleshooting
Testing and validating new technologies/enhancements with Engineering
Participate in assessing current environment and making recommendations for improvement with an eye to automation, where applicable
Share information and promote effective communication among peers and clients.
Write comprehensive documentation and maintain operational runbooks
Consistently meet the SLA's set with the client for the services provided.
Experience/Skills
Minimum 3 years of experience supporting NetApp implementations and configurations
Solid understanding of hardware platforms such as FAS9XXX, 3XXX series, FC loops, MK4-DS14, ESH modules, raiddp with familiarity around hardware troubleshooting.
Knowledge of protocols such as NFS(a must) and CIFS (a must), FC and iSCSI.
Well versed in disaster recovery technology - snapmirror, snapshots, backups
Knowledge of tools - DFM, VFM, StorageProfiler, Rainfinity a plus
Must be proficient in scripting languages such as Perl and VBScript
Experience with performance tuning analysis a must.
Active Directory, NIS Authentication, Networking and SAN knowledge a plus
Knowledge of SQL and familiarity with databases is a plus.
Three to five years of experience supporting Microsoft or UNIX platform
Strong analytical and problem solving skills
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Self starter with minimum supervision
